What does a Combined ADHD and Autism assessment involve?
Step 1 - Online appointment with you to talk through your child's development (ADI-R) and how they experience things now.
Step 2 - Your child meets a friendly practitioner for the ADOS (autism) assessment - this is an observational assessment which involves lots of interaction and age-appropriate toys/play.
Step 3 - Your child completes the DIVA (ADHD) assessment — questions on attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.
Step 4 - Our practitioners meet to decide the diagnosis that best fits your child.
Step 5 - You receive the full report to keep and share as you wish.
Step 6 - A "Next Steps" session to talk through recommendations and school support. Optional ongoing peer support available.

Areas of life a diagnosis can support
Home
An autism assessment will help identify areas of strength and things that may be difficult with regard to home life. This could include personal care, sleep, mealtimes, or transitions.
The assessment will provide bespoke recommendations to support you in developing strategies alongside your child to help them thrive in all areas of their daily life.
Education
Understanding your child’s neurodivergent profile will provide a basis for advocating for their needs and any reasonable adjustments or support required to enable them to fully access their education.
Friendships and play
A better understanding of your child and their communication preferences will allow you to better support them in developing their friendships in the context of play and their specific interests.
What do I do with this diagnosis?
This will be different for everyone, but following the diagnosis, an individual might:
Access strengths-based and specialist peer support or therapy services.
Share the diagnosis with trusted adults supporting the child to enable them to better understand the child’s strengths and needs.
Speak to the child’s educational setting about any required reasonable adjustments.
Use it as a gateway to learn more about your child's neurodivergent profile.
If required, the report may signpost to medication services, though many individuals may access support and therapy in the first instance

Who are Child Combined assessments for?
Our assessments are suitable for all children who may show signs of autism & ADHD, such as differences in communication, social interaction, or behaviour. Also difficulty focusing, impulsivity, hyperactivity, or challenges with organisation and emotional regulation Assessments are designed to provide clarity for families seeking understanding and support.
Are appointments available online or in person?
We offer a combination of online and in-person appointments.
To ensure we complete a thorough and accurate assessment, all children must attend an in-person appointment for the observational part of the assessment. This is an essential part of our assessment process and cannot be completed online.
Appointments with parents and carers, such as initial consultations, history-taking, feedback sessions, and follow-up discussions, can usually be conducted online if this is more convenient.
What happens during a child Combined assessment?
Assessments are carried out by experienced Neurodevelopmental Assessors using gold-standard tools, including structured observations and interviews with parents or caregivers. The process is child-centred, ensuring each child feels comfortable, supported, and understood.
How do you adapt assessments for girls and children who mask their traits?
Our experts receive ongoing training to recognise the full spectrum of autism presentations. We understand that autistic girls and children who mask may show subtler traits or use coping strategies that differ from traditional diagnostic patterns. Our approach looks beyond surface behaviours to understand each child’s strengths, challenges, and support needs.
How long does the assessment process take?
We don’t commit to exact timeframes, as every family’s journey is unique. However, once a private assessment is booked, your process can begin within a week.
What does it mean that ASG adheres to NICE guidelines?
It means our experts follow the standards recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for autism diagnosis in children. This ensures your child’s assessment meets nationally recognised standards of quality and care.
What happens after my child’s assessment?
You’ll receive a detailed report with recommendations for next steps, including support strategies at home, in school, or through therapy.You'll also receive a bespoke next steps support appointment with one of our specialist support team members, all of whom have lived experience, to talk through your report in detail, discuss any recommendations and signposting, answer your questions, and help you understand the most appropriate next steps for you and your family.
